2017 Red Bull Rampage | Going Big In Utah
It’s only been about a month since we announced that Fasthouse was officially entering the mountain bike world, but we’ve already hit the ground running. And making the trek out to Utah this past week for the annual Red Bull Rampage event was just the beginning of what is sure to be a killer journey. Held over the course of a week, Rampage pits mountain biking’s best free ride athletes against each other on arguably the gnarliest course on the planet, as riders navigate sheer cliffs, and massive gaps, at nearly incomprehensible speeds.
In a last-minute wild card entry, Fasthouse’s first MTB athlete Ryan “R-Dog” Howard spent nearly two weeks in Utah, preparing his run and getting acquainted with the treacherous terrain. Styling in some of our moto gear, R-Dog held his own, as he completed two solid runs with rad style and soul. Following his final run—and with an ice-cold beer in hand—R-Dog had this to say in the finishing corral. “I’m so honored to be a part of this event, and rep the Fasthouse gear,” he said. “I’m not here to win this thing, I’m here to show people what riding bikes is all about! Hanging with the boys, laying down a couple runs, and crackin' a beer to celebrate the good times.”
R-Dog’s fun-loving attitude is contagious—good times, throwing whips, and laughing with buddies is what MTB and moto are all about. And since inking his FH deal, we’ve known he was a perfect fit. “The first time I met Kenny [Alexander], we were talking about big events like Rampage,” R-Dog said. “I told him that I’m not the most competitive person, and he didn’t seem to care. His reply was, ‘Just go out there, have fun, look good and throw some whips to stoke people out.’ Those are some words to live by!”
