Anaheim 1 Supercross 2018 | The Rookies
In the world of Supercross and motocross, Anaheim 1 is the sport's premiere event. Often referred to as "the Superbowl of motocross racing", the opening of the season not only marks the beginning of a long 17-week series, but for many racers, it's the first time they get to make the trip down the tunnel and into the stadium to live their dream. For Robbie Wageman, Gage Schehr, and Deegan Vonlossberg, A1 was the begining of becoming one step closer to their ultimate goal of running at the front of the pack at the highest level. While Wageman had already competed under the lights at a few rounds in 2017 before getting injured, Schehr and Vonlossberg were competing in their first-ever SX, and while they did have their ups and downs, all three riders held their own against the best in the business.
When it was all said and done, Schehr and Wageman qualified for the night show in 26th and 31st respectively, while Vonlossberg missed the top-40 by just 1/10th of a second. In the night show, Gage crashed on the start of his heat race before ultimately finishing 20th in the Last Chance Qualifier, while Wageman finished 15th in the LCQ. No matter what happened, though, all of them had a smile on their face the entire time—and they looked the best while doing it. On to Houston next week!
