Anaheim 1 Supercross | Opening Round Snaps

First and foremost, we're fans of the sport. And with the opening round of the Monster Energy AMA Supercross series in our backyard, we had no excuse for not attending and snapping some photos of the on-track action and behind-the-scenes tidbits. We also found some time to toss back a couple cold ones and enjoy the festivities. Anaheim usually goes down with a few surprises, but this year was arguably one of the craziest in recent memory. Between the altercation of Weston Peick and Vince Friese, James Stewart's KO, and Jason Anderson's upset win, the opening round was anything but ordinary and served notice that 2016 is going to be a year to remember.

The 450 Class saw Rockstar Energy Husqvarna's Jason Anderson come from outside the top-five to take home his—and Husky's—first 450 main even victory. Meanwhile, after colliding with Yoshimura Suzuki's James Stewart that saw the Suzuki rider get knocked out and the race red flagged, Red Bull KTM's Ryan Dungey went down following the restart, but was able to climb back to second at the finish. Behind him, Team Honda's Cole Seely, who led early, completed the podium.

In the 250 Class, Star Racing Yamaha's Cooper Webb picked up where he left off last season, by dominating every time he was on the track, taking the win in both his heat race and the main event. The victory serves notice that the determined rider won't let the number one plate go easily. We're already looking forward to next week's racing in San Diego.
