The East Coast Swing has officially begun for the riders in the Monster Energy AMA Supercross Series. And this past weekend in Atlanta—decked out in brand new Fasthouse gear—Darryn Durham and Tyler Bereman got off to an amazing start to their East Coast Is Toast Tour, turning heads, throwing mid-race fist pumps, and last-lap whips. The boys definitely had a good time and it showed both on the track and off.

“This shit is tough coming off the couch,” is how Durham summed up his seventh place finish. Throughout the day—in spite of a gnarly crash in the sand section—Durham turned in impressive lap times, which eventually qualified him in 15th going into the night show where he transferred directly into the main event from his heat race. “Round one was a success,” Darryn said following the race. “We had an eventful trip across the country and made it to Atlanta just in time to show everyone what this tour is about. The fans were pumped and it was a fun vibe in the pits all day.” In the main event, Durham got off to a third place start, and after getting passed by a few guys, settled into a comfortable seventh when the checkered flag flew. Not bad for a guy who hasn’t seen a gate drop for a Supercross race in over a year.

Much like Durham, Bereman hasn’t lined up for a race in a substantial amount of time, yet he still put his head down, nearly made the main event, and had a good time in the process. “With the unique pit presence and approach that we’re bringing to Supercross, everyone seemed really stoked on our tour.” Tyler said. The Kawasaki rider’s heat race didn’t go as planned, though, forcing him to LCQ where he missed making the main event by one position. “This shit is so much fun, but it’s definitely tough coming straight off the couch.” For Bereman, three straight years of injuries have hindered his racing career, and making matters even more challenging was a crash during this off-season that left him bruised and battered for a few weeks right in the middle of prep. “We made it through round one healthy,” Bereman said excited to be exactly where he wants to be. “It’s a good starting point for me. The plan is to just keep building from here on out while flexing our fun muscles at the same time!”
